Joseph Russo

Joe Russo was an Adjunct Professor at The John Marshall Law School for over thirteen years and he was also a disability rights attorney. Prior to joining The John Marshall Law School, Joe was Deputy Commissioner of Compliance for the City of Chicago's Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities for thirteen years and a Senior Policy Advisory for the Illinois Attorney General's office for two and a half years.

Joe was also a Senior Trial Attorney for The U.S Department of Justice for thirteen years. During this time as an attorney, he was involved in several high profile issues including overseeing compliance during the construction of facilities used in the 1996 Olympic Games, settlement agreement with the Empire State Building and addressing the accessibility of the AMC Theatre chain and issues associated with stadium style seating.

Joe served on the Board of Directors of Openlands and on the board for The Center for Disability and Elder Law. Joe earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law and was a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow (2007).
